It wouldn't make any difference unless you are going to create the rescue boot disk using PC Win Boot. Installation is simple, by default, click continue until it's fully completed. Now you are ready to run the program from your Windows start menu.

Firewall configuration

Both network functions of PC Network Clone and PC Client require specific firewall configurations.

In order to use Network functions, you need to configure the firewall on both server and all client computers. You need to add Inbound and OutBound rules for these UDP ports: 30998, 30999, 31000. Without adding these rules may prevent PC Network Clone detecting the client computers.

Configure your firewall as follows:

Start PC Client program

PC Network Clone network functions needs PC Client program to be run on each client side computers in order to set up the connections. You can download the latest PC Client version from here. When PC Client starts, give a name for each client computer through PC Client and click "Start". Now everything is prepared on client side. You can go and configure the server.

When the backup/deployment finished(All indcators on the server program shows 100%), you can safely close PC Client.

Network functions Overview

The clone functions on the top are all network based with two sections, which includes deploying entire hard drive, deploying a partition, deploying a hard drive image and deploy a partition image.

If your task is massive system installation through a preinstalled PC hard disk, or large scale system deployment through an prepared hard disk image (PCHD file), then you need to click "Disk Deployment and PCHD Deployment". This function will deploy an entire hard drive or hard drive image to all the client's hard drives at the same time.

If your task is to deploy only a specific partition or an partition image (PCPT file), then you can click "Partition Deployment and PCPT Deployment". Remember that deploying only a partition may not makes your target hard drive bootable, you might need to fix boot configuration manually.

Detailed instructions for Network functions

Deploy a partition or partition image

The following pictures shows you how to deploy a hard drive partition or partition image to many client computers at the same time. You could either deploy a partition that is on a preinstalled computer or deploy a partition image located at the server.

First of all, start all PC Client programs on the client sides, then click start search as show in number (1) below. You can choose either deploy a partition or image in number. We will demonstrate only how to deploy an partition. The operation of deploying an partition image is similar. Once all clients are detected, they will be shown in the list above the "start search" button. Click on each client, the right handside will show all the partitions contained in that client's hard drive, select the target hard drive for that particular client and do the same for all clients. Once all target partitions are selected, Green tick marks will shown for all items in the list above the "start search" button. Now, let click Next button and rock it.

Choose the source partition from number (2). This is a partition on your local hard drive and will be used as the data source to propagate. There are a couple of information to help you identify them. They are drive letter, label, total size, used size, file system type and disk number.

Number (3) shown in the picture below is the place where all detected clients are listed. We will call it Client list in the following. If you have problems having clients listed. Please make sure you follow the instructions in section "Firewall configuration".

Number (4) is where the local partitions of a selected client contains. This is the target partition to be deployed to. Choose the corresponding target partition for each client.

The "Used Only" option indicates that only used blocks are cloned, blocks that are not in use will be skipped. The default setting is enabled, it's recommended to use the default setting to maximize the speed.

The "Shadow Copy" option is also enabled by default and is recommended to keep it as default. This setting is important when source partition is the Windows System drive (C drive). This setting will take a snapshot of the source partition before cloning starts. It ensures the integrity of data being cloned. When source partition is not system drive, enabling or disabling it has no difference.

Once all PC Client programs are in listening state on all the client computers, you can go back to the server and click "Start Search" button, within a couple of seconds, all clients should be detected and listed. Now choose each client's partition as target partitions. Finally, click "Next" button to start the cloning process.

Now, get a coffee and wait untill the deployment finished.

Deploying Partition image is quite similar, the only differnece is that you choose "PCPT File" instead of Partition as the source. In this case, "Used Only" and "Shadow Copy" options won't have any effects.

Deploy a hard disk or disk image

This procedure is similar to Partition deployment. Here you are deploying entire hard disk or hard disk image (PCHD file) instead of a single partition. We will only demonstrate a short tutorial in this section since most operations are as same as in Partition deployment.

The following pictures shows you how to deploy an entire hard drive or disk image to lots of client computers simultaneously. You could either deploy a hard disk that has everything installed on a preinstalled computer or deploy a hard drive image located at the server.

First of all, start all PC Client programs on the client sides, then click start search as show in number (1) below. Choose either deploy an entire disk or disk image. Once all clients are detected, they will be shown in the list above the "start search" button. Click on each client, the right handside will show all the disks contained in that client's computer box, select the target hard drive for that particular client and do the same for all clients. Once all target disks are selected, Green tick marks will shown for all items in the list above the "start search" button. Now, let click Next button and rock it.
