I have started up my server (Your PC Network Clone Server CD) and my target (client) computer is connected to the local network, But I can not use the PXE boot. Any suggestion?
ans :
- First of all, make sure your network card supports PXE boot. Generally, only onboard network card supports PXE boot. If you do not have it, you should use the Client CD as an alternative way. If you have onboard network card or any PCI network card that supports PXE boot(refer to your Board manual), you should enable PXE boot by setting “boot from network”/”LAN boot” as the highest priority in your BIOS configuration (Please refer to your BIOS manual)
- Second, you should plug the network line into your computer. After plugging the line and start the computer, you may see the light
on the network port is flashing. If not, you might have to check the line and Network Card if it works fine.
- Third, you should disable all DHCP services on your local network. Generally, it resides on your network switcher or network router
(Please refer to your device manual on how to disable its DHCP service)
- In the end, you should start your source computer with PC Network Clone Server CD. Then follow the Wizard of PC Network
Clone Software. After the successful startup on Source computer, start your client computers and start the mass copy process.
My Network card does not support PXE boot, what I can do?
ans : You can use the client CD to start client computers. Client side ISO format CD is downloadable on our website for free. You only need
just one burnable CD to burn this ISO, and it’s reusable on other client computers when one starts up.
The program shows me there is an error, what I can do?
ans :
During the manual operation steps or clone process some misoperation may happen. Common error messages and their solutions are
listed below:
- Message: "Not enough space to write, please select a larger partition/disk."
Solution: You select a partition/disk with smaller capacity than the source partition/disk.
Please select a larger one on target (client) computer and redo the operations.
- Message: "Data lost due to crowded network" or "Data package is damaged, slice lost."
Solution: You should check your network device or network lines connected to the server.
If your network device (such as switcher or router) is not working normally it will
decrease the clone speed and produce lots of lost data package.
- Message: "Too many clients already connected. Connection requests to server are refused."
Solution: PC Network Clone Server does not support infinite clients, each Edition has it
limitation.
Free Edition: support only 2 clients
Home Edition: support only 3 clients
Professional Edition: support 20 clients
- Message: "We have been dropped by server"
Solution: Happens on target (client) computer.
Several reasons may cause the problem
1. Network line connecting the client is abnormal. Please use another one.
2. Network card is abnormal or damaged, please check it
3. The hard drive of the client may have some bad sector, please check it.
If one of the client’s response to the data sent by server exceeds a certain time, Server will consider the client as disconnected and notify the client, but server will still continue transferring data to other clients until ends.
If you got a "UNKNOW ERROR!!! code = xxx" message, please send us the message and the information about your
network devices, computers and the edition of the software.
I am using your software to clone. After a while, the screen turns to black. What's wrong?
ans : This is the screen savor function in our software. Because cloning might be a long process (an hour to several hours), your hardware will get two benefit from this little feature :
1. Close the displayer to save energy
2. Extend the life of your displayer .
Why my target PCs can not boot after the clone?
ans : Hardware should be similar. For example, do not copy the system on AMD 64bit CPU to Intel CPU computer, or do not copy the system
from IDE Drive to SATA hard drive. This difference may cause boot failure in target PCs.
If my onboard network card is broken, can I use a PCI network card?
ans : Of course, you may need PC Network Clone Client CD, which is downloadable on our website, to start up the target (client)
computers, since most PCI network card does not support PXE boot.
Why the clone speed went down at some point in the whole process?
ans : PCNetworkClone tries to recover data from badly damaged sectors to your destination disk. If your source disk has too many bad sectors, they will slow down the whole process, for the PCNetworkClone do the job of recover data from bad sector as much as possible. If the whole process stoped and some point, we advise you check your hard disk sectors with some disk fixer software.
PCNetworkClone can not list my hard drive and its partitions. Why?
ans : There are several possible reasons:
a)If you are using removable disk, unstable voltage of removable hard drive leads to unstable copy of data. Software might miss recognize the disk or partition. (Recommendation: contact hard disk manufactory)
b)Too many bad sectors will also this problem. We advise you to fix bad sectors using MHDD software or so.
After I copy my whole disk to an larger new disk. It looks like the same size of the old one, why?
ans : Cloning your smaller hard disk to a larger will leave you with a partition on the new hard disk the exact size of your old hard drive, with the rest of the drive left as unpartitioned space. This space can either be converted into a new partition for storage using Windows Partition utilities included with Windows Operating System or merged with the system partition using a program like Partition Magic.
The CD boots, but it stops with a message "isolinux: Disk error 20, AX = 4200, drive EF"
ans : This is because computer can not read CD data correctly.
1. Please check the integrity of the download file.
2. Please check there are no dirty point or scar on CD before burning.
3. high speed of burning can also cause problems. Please set the speed to "4-6x" before re-burnning the ISO file.
